Privacy
Marmot collects nothing.
Marmot runs locally on your computer. It does not have an account system, an analytics service, or a crash-reporting backend. It does not make network requests to us or to any third party as part of its normal operation.
What Marmot stores
Your manuscripts are saved as plain Markdown files on your Mac, in a folder you choose. Marmot also writes small preference files (window size, recently opened documents, editor settings) to the standard macOS preferences location. None of this leaves your Mac.
What Marmot does not do
- No telemetry or usage analytics of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs that collect data.
- No advertising. No tracking. No fingerprinting.
- No automatic cloud sync. (You can put your manuscript folder in iCloud, Dropbox, or Git on your own; Marmot itself does not.)
